It's that time of year again. Time to focus on your New Year's resolutions. Every year is an opportunity to set new goals. Each year you can make progress, you can improve better. A new year is a great opportunity for athletes to focus on working on their goals on and off the field. We wanted to share some points on what we think can help you to have a wonderful new year resolutionin a healthy perspective. To live a happy and healthy lifestyle it is important to exercise daily. Can you really walk your way to fitness?Thirty minutes of workout each day can be as simple as taking a walk. You might be having a busy schedule, take a 5-10 minutes of work on your way to work and after. This not only gives you exercise but makes you more active and energize your day. Once you take walking as a daily routine, you're on the way to an important destination — better health.Make some time at the beginning of the day or end of the day to think on what you’re thankful for. “A daily grateful check-in or keeping a grateful journal is a way to shift your focus and minimize the distorting influence of stress. Reminding ourselves of the small, everyday positive aspects of our lives helps to develop a sense of balance and perspective that can enhance well-being,” says Johns Hopkins psychiatrist Susan Lehmann, M.D. Life is full opportunities and challenges. Life is sometime hard and easy but we all should fight what life throws at it and be grateful for all of it. Our life is very hectic and busy. Our morning starts on a busy schedule. Also ends after a very rough day. Therefore, it is very important for us to get proper sleep every day. According to Johns Hopkins sleep expert Rachel Salas, M.D., when it’s time to sleep, it’s time to chill – literally. Knocking the thermostat down to 68 degrees or lower before you tuck into bed can help you sleep better. Darken your room by drawing the curtains or dimming the display on your alarm clock to really get those quality Zs. We should need enough sleep so our mind could refresh and get ready for another amazing day. Creating these resolutions is a piece of a cake. Sticking onto them on working on it is a whole different story. But its important to have self-confidence. The confidence that drives you to go beyond to do what’s necessary. Always think of the next step. This way you will never stop on your resolutions. You will work on it until its done. Be the change you want to see in yourself.
